Seattle & Mt. Rainier

What's Included:
  • 3 Guided Hikes
  • 3 Nights Lodging
  • City Tour
  • Van Rental & Fuel
  • Dinner Each Night

It’s one of the hottest cities in the country right now, and the perfect time for a visit is the 4th of July.   The city, while always vibrant and exciting, truly sparkles in early summer.  Meanwhile, up in the mountains, the sunny skies and fresh air help pull wildflowers out from under a blanket of snow.  On this Fit4Adventure trip we take a little time to experience it all, starting with a world-class 4th of July fireworks show downtown, followed by a restorative retreat to nature, and ultimately reaching new heights with a challenging ascent of snow-and-ice covered Mt. Rainier.

Price

$948 per person (double occupancy)

Does not include:  Flights, meals not listed above, rental gear if required, optional extra day/night.

Day 1:    Seattle.   Flights arrive in Seattle mid-morning and we will embark on afternoon guided tour of the city.   First-time visitors will see all the iconic sights (Pike Place Market, Space Needle, Pioneer Square, Queen Anne Hill), and everybody will have the chance to discover something new about this spectacular city.   After the tour, we’ll head down to the waterfront for a fresh-catch dinner.  Then, we’ll watch Seattle’s awe-inspiring fireworks show on Lake Union, which USA Today has called one of the best in the nation.

Day 2:   Paradise.  Two hours away and 5,000 feet above Seattle is a place called Paradise.  This scenic retreat, on the shoulder of Mt. Rainier, was created over 100 years ago and is the most popular destination inside Mt. Rainier National Park.  Views from here include jagged peaks, alpine meadows, immense glaciers and, of course the summit itself. We’ll visit the historic lodge and new visitor center at Paradise before testing our boots on one of the park’s most popular trails.

For the next two nights, our home is a comfy cabin in Ashford, WA.  Ashford is a tiny town just outside the park entrance.  It’s home base for many climbers and guides and the starting point for many Mt. Rainier climbing expeditions – so it’s well stocked with standard climber provisions (gear, beer and burgers).

Scheduled Hike:    Comet Falls (5.0 miles, moderate)

Day 3:   At 14,410’ Mt. Rainier is the tallest peak in Washington State, and the highest glacier-covered summit in the lower forty-eight.  To reach the summit requires two days’ effort, ice-climbing gear and technical skills. Don’t worry, that’s not our plan.  But we WILL see how far we can get up the mountain in a day.  As we climb from the Paradise trailhead (at 5,400’) we may start in meadows full of spring wildflowers, but will soon encounter immense snowfields and perhaps even reach the edge of a glacier.  How far we go will be determined by weather and trail conditions, as well as the safety and stamina of the group.  Snowshoes and special gear, if needed, can be rented in Ashford.

Scheduled Hike:  To Camp Muir at 10,000’? (9.0 miles, very strenuous)

Day 4:   A Perfect Panorama.  Mt. Rainier is one of several volcanoes that rise above the Cascade range. With a relatively short hike this morning, we’ll climb steeply to an old lookout station on a high rock pinnacle where we’ll have an eye-popping, 360-degree view of this ‘Ring of Fire’ including Mt. Rainier, Adams, St. Helens and Hood.  After the hike we’ll start our drive back to Seattle, returning in time for evening departures.

Scheduled Hike:  High Rock Trail (3.2 miles, moderate - with some scrambling and exposure at the top)

Optional Extra Day:   Why not stay an extra day and see Seattle the way YOU want to see it.  Go for a run along the waterfront.  Spend some time in the bustling Pike Place Market.  Take a ride up the Space Needle.  Catch a ferry across Elliott Bay.  You won’t regret spending a little extra time in this spectacular city.

BOSTON 2017 REVIEWS

That massage in the Stuart room was the BEST part of my day!!  I looooove post-race massages!!!! Amazing reward feeling.   Thanks for getting me in, at the last minute!

Marie Billen -  Michigan

There were a handful of us from my run group that came but only two of us decided to use your bus … let’s just say I
guarantee they will use you next year and spread the word here in the Dallas Ft. Worth area. It was perfect!

Paige Long - Texas

We were impressed with our entire first-time experience! Booking through Fit 4 Adventure definitely eliminated the guesswork from what could have been a very daunting task of finding a room in Boston and in a good proximity to the finish line and restaurants and things to do, as well as finding transportation to the Athletes Village.

We really enjoyed dinner at Maggiano’s, especially getting to meet experienced Boston Marathon runners and hearing their stories. We found the entire process easy, organized, and convenient. Thank you!

Rob and Pam Tyler - Ohio

Everything was wonderful. I'm so glad I heard about you from my friend who ran last year's race. The hotel's location is perfect, and the staff was so supportive of the runners. I particularly enjoyed the round of applause when entering the hotel
after the race - what a nice touch.

The bus ride out went smoothly. I'm so glad I took the 6a, as it gave me peace of mind that I could leave my stuff there and
kill time outside in advance of the race if needed.

Will Boland – Virginia

We had a great time.  With a wife and 3 kids in tow it was great to turn the worrying over logistics to someone else.  The hotel and dinner were the perfect blend of great location, convenience and value for us.  Plus, you never got mad when I was late :)

Scott Nystrom – Virginia

I loved absolutely everything about the trip. The hotel was wonderful, and the location was amazing. It made such a difference for my mom who was nervous getting around Boston.

I honestly can’t say enough nice things about the staff there. When they cheered for us as we came inside the hotel after the race, I started bawling. It was so incredibly thoughtful. I also took the shuttle bus. I don’t know how it could be any easier or more efficient. It took all the stress out of any logistics. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. I absolutely loved the trip. If I end up running again next year (I qualified already but who knows what might happen between now and a year, haha). I will definitely be contacting you again!

Taylor Wilson – Texas

Thanks so much for the congrats and for an absolutely perfect travel experience!

The hotel was awesome – great location, great accommodations, great everything right down to the cheers
from the staff when I walked in after the race!! Could not have asked for anything better!!

The bus was perfect! Right on time, dropped us off at a great location, etc.

It was an awesome experience traveling with you and your group! Assuming I can get me another BQ I will be signing up! I am also very intrigued by your other tours so will be figuring out how to work those in as well.

Thanks for everything.

Leslie Singleton – Texas

Thank you for another fantastic Boston marathon experience. The lead up to the week-end is probably the most stressful part with trying to qualify and then making sure all the bookings get done in time to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip for us and our cheerleaders.   You are so attentive to every detail and responsive to my emails which I really appreciate.

Staying at the Park Plaza was perfect as always and the dinner at Maggiano’s, 6am bus, post-race massage and new running socks made it even more special.

Thank you for all your hard work and real interest you take in all of us!

Marie Dunn – Toronto Canada
